10^th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION- MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

To commemorate the 10^th anniversary of Friends Across the Ages, we will be hosting a series of exciting events in April.  On April 2-3^rd, performer Rickey Starr will be visiting from Georgia and performing to the residents at four nursing homes.   On April 4^th, we will be hosting a special thank you party for our volunteers in the beautiful at courtyard at Barr Systems.

NURSING HOMES

Thursday, March 5^th and Thursday, March 19th, 3:30 pm – “Storytellers Society” at Parklands- These group gatherings are a wonderful way to share, reminisce and truly get to know the residents at Parklands Nursing and Rehab.

Thursday, March 12^th, 2:30 pm- Reaction Reading at Park Meadows – Lead by board member Vi Asmuth, Ph.D. residents are invited to participate in choral reading of poetry.  The group reacts with active participation, knowledge, opinions, feelings, and imagination.  Vi did a study monitoring the results of this small group program in nursing homes in the Fort Myers/Cape Coral area. One facility liked the program so much that she continued leading groups there for five years.  If you find this concept interesting, you are welcome to come out to participate. 

Thursday, March 12^th, 3:30 pm, Steve’s Casino at Parklands – A monthly event at Parklands Nursing and Rehab – By popular demand, Steve comes the second Thursday of each month to deal blackjack for the residents (who play for prizes).  He can always use some extra dealers, so let us know if you’d like to come join the fun!

Monday, March 16^th at 7:00 p.m., St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at Signature Healthcare- This group will be handing out St. Patrick’s Day themed goodies to the residents.  Please come and celebrate with this fun and lively group!

Thursday, March 26^th at 2:30 pm- Birthday Celebration at Parklands- Help us wish a happy birthday to all residents of Parklands Nursing and Rehab with birthdays in February. Meet us in the dining room where we will have singing and cake. Volunteers are needed to help gather the residents together, serve the cake, sing, clean up, etc.  Do you play an instrument or have some other talent?  We are always looking for new entertainment for the party – let us know!
