HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Welcome to a new year of the “Nursing Home News”. Around this time when many people are making
New Year’s resolutions, we always like to remind you that this is an especially
good time to start visiting someone at a nursing home. One-on-one volunteers agree to visit a
nursing home resident in need for one hour a week. We provide the training and help along the
way. If you’d like to give it a try,
there is no better time than now! You can contact us by replying to this email,
or call our office at 381-1117 and we’ll give you all the details.
UPCOMING GROUP EVENTS
Monday, January 15th, 2:30PM – 4PM – “Casino Party” – This event is such
a big hit with the residents at Parklands Nursing and Rehab (formerly The Manor
at Gainesville) that we’ve started
having it regularly. At 2:30 there will be a bingo game. Once we’re finished with Bingo, we move on to
the horse racing game, and blackjack or other card games. The residents will be playing for “Bingo
Bucks” and prizes.
Sunday, January 21st, 2-3PM
– Wintertime Crafts! – This will be a re-creation of an event we held back
in December that was a big success. This
time it will be held at Palm Garden,
in the main dining room. The residents will be making snowmen to display
in their rooms or give to family members.
But the residents will need helpers (that’s you). The supplies will all be provided by Friends Across the Ages, just bring yourself – no talent
required. Just come in through the front
entrance and ask for directions to the dining room!
Thursday, January 25th, 3-4PM
-- Birthday celebration -- Help us wish a happy birthday to all residents
of Parklands Nursing and Rehab with
birthdays in December. Meet us in the dining room where we'll have singing and
cake. Volunteers are needed to help gather the residents together, serve the
cake, sing, clean up, etc.
