ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY
Please join us on Sunday, December 9th, at Park Meadows nursing home for a
special volunteer appreciation party (and holiday party). The event will be held from 3:30 – 5PM and is open to all past and present
Friends Across
the Ages volunteers and their friends and families. We will have all kinds of good things to eat
(wings, veggies, etc) and other holiday snacks.
But please, RSVP (you can simply reply to this email or call us at
381-1117), and let us know how many people you will be bringing.
The event will start at 3:30 in
the dining room where we’ll do some holiday caroling with the residents of Park
Meadows. Then around 4:15 we’ll move from the dining room into the
day room where we’ll have the refreshments (the residents will be getting ready
for their own dinner at this point in the dining room).
Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to meet other Friends volunteers, to brighten the day of some nursing home
residents, and to be THANKED! Here are
the directions to Park Meadows:
Click
Here for a Map. The nursing home is located at 3250
SW 41st Place. From
the intersection of SW
34th Street
and Archer
Road,
head south on 34th street (heading towards Williston Rd). Look for a small side
street 41st Place
on your left (if you get to Williston
Rd, you've gone too far). Turn left
on 41st Place,
and the nursing home will be one block down on your left. Park in the first
parking lot and come in the main entrance (where the receptionist is).
Reminder: This event is open to ALL our
volunteers, not just those that normally visit Park Meadows. It was such a
wonderful event last year because so many people brought their family with
them. So please bring your family (or a
friend)!
BLUEGRASS BAND – A DOWN HOME HIT!
If you missed our monthly birthday celebration in November, you really
missed out. The P.K. Yonge
bluegrass band was there and entertained us with some of the best bluegrass
music from here to Kentucky. The band had a total of six members – two teachers
from P.K. Yonge and four students. I think I counted three guitars, one bass
guitar, one banjo, and a mandolin.
P.K. Yonge also has a blues band and a rock band, and
they said they will try to get one of those bands to stop by at a future
birthday celebration too.

local flute teacher, will be bringing her students for a holiday concert at University Place nursing home.
We will be singing some holiday music so singers are needed too. Words to all songs will be provided, just
bring yourself, your voice (any voice will do), and a friend. Come around to the back of the building
(Entrance B) when you get there (the front entrance may be locked on weekends),
and ask for directions to the dining room.
This has become an annual event now in its fourth big year!
Thursday, December 27th, 3-4PM -- Birthday celebration – Help us wish
a happy birthday to all residents of Parklands
Nursing and Rehab with birthdays in December. Meet us in the dining
room where we will have singing and cake. Volunteers are needed to help
gather the residents together, serve the cake, sing, clean up, etc. Do
you play an instrument or have some other talent? We are always looking
for new entertainment for the party – let us know!
