Nursing Home News--June 2017

This is the June 2017 newsletter of Friends Across the Ages nursing home outreach

DO YOU HAVE A STORY TO SHARE?

To all our current and past volunteers—do you have a story you would like to share with us about your experiences volunteering, or a story you remember your “friend across the ages” sharing with you from their past? Would you be interested in writing it down and sending it to us? Or do you have a favorite picture of your resident friends?

This summer, we are continuing the process of collecting stories and pictures for a project we have long dreamed about and finally hope to make a reality: a Friends Across the Ages book. Our hope is that it will include stories from volunteers and residents over the years. Perhaps it will inspire others to volunteer. Perhaps it will teach them something. Perhaps it will make them smile. We welcome funny stories and sad ones, inspiring stories and challenging ones…and even just plain silly stories. For more information, contact us at info@acrosstheages.org.

JUNE SPECIAL EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Each month, in addition to groups that meet weekly for regular volunteering/visitation, Friends Across the Ages sponsors a few special events and activities at various nursing homes. These events require no ongoing commitment, though we do ask you to let us know ahead of time if you plan to attend any of these events so that we can be on the lookout for you. If you would like more information about our weekly visitation groups and becoming a regular Friends Across the Ages volunteer, please let us know that as well. Here are our special events for June:
